National Parent Helpline Community Day

Posted on by grandruler2

(August 6, 2011) Ralph Welch Park in Pomona, CA was busy with providers, neighbors, community leaders, a DJ, snacks, activities, free massages, the LA County Fire Department, McGruff the Crime Dog, and wonderful raffle prizes as the community came out to learn more about the National Parent Helpline® and local resources to help strengthen their families. A very special thank you to Assembly Member Norma Torres (61st District), who graciously offered a Certificate of Recognition on behalf of the California Legislature to Parents Anonymous® Inc. and the National Parent Helpline®; and to Councilman Freddie Rodriguez (District 2) for being a part of the day; and to the Inland Empire Daily Bulletin for photographing and covering the event (article Event to spread word about source of help for parents). Local organizations offered information and education about their resources to families, and generously donated raffle prizes. Thank you to the providers who made this day a great success for families: Care1st Health Plan; Chaffey College; the LA County Fire Department; American Career Academy Massage Therapy School; Inland Empire Health Plan; LA County DCFS‐ Pomona Office and Pomona Parent Partners; City of Pomona Parks & Recreation; City of Pomona Police Department‐ Community Service Division; Project Sister Family Services; TriCity Mental Health Services; Volunteers of America; Girl Scouts of Pomona; the National Runaway Switchboard; and Parents Anonymous® Inc. More coverage from Inland Empire Daily Bulletin is in article Helpline project has community day for families.
