New National Parent Helpline® PSA Released for National Child Abuse Prevention Month

Lisa Pion-Berlin, PhD, President and CEO, Parents Anonymous® Inc.

To commemorate April 2011 as National Child Abuse Prevention Month we have just released a new public service announcement about the landmark National Parent Helpline® 1-855-4A PARENT with David McCallum, a parent and grandparent and currently in the acclaimed drama series NCIS as Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard, who encourages parents to call the National Parent Helpline® when they need someone to talk to.

We believe Asking for Help is a Sign of Strength® and everyone needs a supportive, listening person to reach out to. But more importantly, I call upon everyone to reach out to a friend who is financially struggling, a neighbor dealing with their challenging teen, a colleague, with a new born baby, a Dad in the park playing with their toddler daughter, military parents trying to stay connected to their children, the grandparents in caregiving roles, and foster parents managing their entire family by being supportive, empathetic, caring and kind! Prevention is about building on the strengths we all have as parents. We as a community need to think strategically about creating environments that foster the growth and development of all children and parents. It is not just a month but a daily and lifetime commitment for all of us to provide help, ensure support, build on strengths and secure hope for our future. We hope you will take the time to listen to this public service announcement and join us in letting others know about the National Parent Helpline®.
